Glenallachie, located at the foot of Ben Rinnes was originally opened in 1967 and used mainly within the Chivas Brothers blends. In 2018 the distillery was taken over and started to produce a core range of single malts headed by Billy Walker.
Batch 3 of the virgin oak series. It underwent additional maturation in casks made of Scottish Sessile Oak. Scottish oak is very hard to work with at all stages of production. It is scarely used in whisky maturation.
Nose: Bursting with baked oats, butterscotch and toffee, with notes of cinnamon, gingersnaps and heather honey.
Palate: Lashings of heather honey, orchard fruits and lemon zest, followed by white chocolate, cinnamon and ginger
Finish: Toffee and butterscotch on the finish.
