For the 19th and a large part of the 20th century Blends had almost complete dominance over the Scotch Whisky market. Still to this day close to 90% of the whisky produced in Scotland is blended, and many distilleries rely on the blenders to keep them in operation. Often looked at as the inferior product compared to Single Malts, Blends are enormous fun and should be explored at every chance. It should not be forgotten as well that is was the likes of Johnnie Walker, Arthur Bell and John Dewar that took Scotch Whisky to the world stage and made it the global product it is today.
