Balvenie was built in 1892 by William and Grants Sons and today is still owned by the same group. Balvenie is the sister distillery to Glenfiddich. The distillery still uses traditional floor malting’s and has its own cooperage. Balvenie uses the local water of the Robbie Dubh source. The Balvenie distillery has been under control by Malt Master David C Stewart MBE who has worked with William and Grants Sons for over 50 years. His concepts of second cask maturation and cask finishes revolutionary at the time are now common practice amongst many distilleries today. Balvenie is located in Dufftown in the heart of the SpeySide. Balvenie has 6 wash stills and 7 spirit stills and has a capacity of 6.8 million litres.
Balvenie distillery is open to visitors.
