Gin came to Great Britain through both wars fought alongside and against the Dutch. They had a juniper based spirit called 'Jenever' which the British took a liking to, especially a quick nip before going into battle. This is where the term 'Dutch Courage' comes from.
The British have made gin very much there own drink and is now enjoying incredible popularity. Always a juniper dominant spirit, any number of botanicals can be infused from aniseed to orange blossom to achieve the desired taste. Traditionally served over ice with tonic many are now also taking it neat. However you drink it is fine by us as long as you enjoy it!
