Lagavulin
One of the three Kildalton distilleries on the south-east coast of Islay, Lagavulin is revered amongst the whisky community. Lagavulin really came to fame in the 1990s when it was made part of the original Classic Malt of Scotland and still is today. It launched a new love for the smoky whiskies of the western isles and at one point outsold Laphroaig. Lagavulin has two sets of stills which produce around two million litres of spirit per year.
Lagavulin distillery is open to visitors.
