For roughly three months of the year, Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull creates a heavily peated spirit which they bottle under the name Ledaig, the old gaelic name for the town. The 18 year old is matured in ex bourbon casks for 16 years and 2 years in finest sherry cask.
Nose: Rich, fruity sherried smokiness, lovely balance of phenols, seaweed and light creosote, dried chilli flakes, spicy black pepper with hints of sweet oakiness.
Palate: Powerful rich, sherried, herbal smoky flavours, orange peel, coffee, a touch of sea salt, and white pepper
Finish: Long and quite pungent with more smoke, a hint of liquorice and sea spray.
