Located in the town of Forres in Morayshire, It ran from 1898 till 1983 and closed before current owners Gordon and Mcphail bought it over and began producing again in 1993. Benromach is small batch, handmade with a touch of peat used in there barley. The 10 year old in a single malt whisky, aged in a combo of sherry and bourbon barrels.
Nose: Dry, barley, big on malt and oak. Dry pine, fruity. A tad spirity. Sweet spices after a time and a hint of puckering prune from the sherry cask and maple fudge.
Palate: Barley, slightly herbal, a little fruit, grassy. Big on malt, ground ginger.
Finish: Mouthwateringly bittersweet. Ginger, dry sherry, almost hoppy after a while.
