Dalmore Cigar Malt, Single Malt Whisky, 70cl
As the name would suggest Dalmore would have you smoke a cigar to compliment this single malt whisky, admittedly I think it does compliment it well! Mr Richard Patterson, the man at the helm of all things Dalmore for the last 50 years, suggests Partagás No. 2 and No. 4. This whisky is a selection of stock from 3 types of cask, American white oak ex-bourbon casks, 30 year old Matusalem Oloroso sherry butts and premier cru Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks, with the average ages between 10 and 14 years. If you are a non-smoker this is also an excellent Malt to be savoured as a great after dinner tipple.
Nose: Caramel, shortbread, biscuits, coffee and chocolates. Simple, clean and moreish.
Palate: Yet more toffee, caramel edging towards the burnt cinder-toffee side of things. Flamed orange-zest, and perfectly integrated sherry.
Finish: Reasonably simple, Christingles (orange Zest and clove with a touch of cinnamon), more mid-palate than palate-coating.
