Deanston 10 year old, Bordeaux Red Wine Finish, single malt whisky.
A wonderfully different single malt whisky. The use of red wine casks is slowly becoming more prominent but is still a risky endeavour as you can very quickly end up with a very one dimensional single malt. Deanston however, have not and have instead created a great whisky displaying the possible benefits of wine oak
Nose: Toffee apple, raspberries, waxy peels, a touch of grist.
Palate: Boozy berry sweetness and toasty oak, plus some dark chocolate mousse later on. A little red chilli heat.
Finish: Peppery on the finish, though its still got strawberry and orange oil for balance.
